- Yes steel pipes do rust but the period is dependent on the purity of zinc other materials used while manufacturing the pipe. - Also please note that even all substitute pipes use fittings and accessories (nipples, elbows etc.) which are made of either steel or copper. So why not use steel galvanised pipes fully?
- Galvanised steel pipes lasts for more than 50 years if installed properly, has been time tested and verified as it has been used universally since ages. But who has seen a substitute pipe lasting for 100 years? Actually this assertion of over 100 year’s product life has practically not been supported at all.
- Yes if we compare the cost of the pipes only, then steel pipes are costly as compared to alternate options. But if you see the total cost inclusive of fittings then the difference of cost is only marginal. And considering the safety and environmental impact, the impact is priceless.
- Yes you are right. But the climatic conditions of foreign countries are totally different from climatic conditions of our country. In India we have a basically hot and humid climate where the extreme weather affects the quality of substitutes. And copper pipes can be used but it is more costly than steel pipes.
Yes installing steel pipes takes more time in comparison to installation of available substitutes in the market but then you also need to consider the other benefits and value proposition of steel pipes as well. If the substitutes are not glued and fitted properly then there is every change of leakage and breaking of pipes due to water pressure. I believe anyone would prefer peace of mind and value for money than a fast job.
